Jen is in hospital

with No Comments

My wife Jennifer is like the hundred year storm. She gets sick once every seven to ten years but when she does it is (wo)man down. Two days ago, our GP admitted her to hospital for special care. Doctors are still conducting tests to formulate a prognosis. There’s a lot going on at the moment however I’m focused only on what is important and within my control. If you missed it, read last week’s blog regarding worrying about things that are within or out of our control. Sending out this week’s message is within my control. With Jen hardly ever having an ‘off’ day I have become complacent regarding the day-to-day running of our household. When we become complacent, we take the people we love for granted and may not show them just how much we value everything that they do for us. We become so used to what they do for us that we forget to express how thankful we are for them. I have a one-hour recording of Oprah Winfrey amongst the inspirational tracks
in my car. Oprah says that no matter how important or famous the person is, every single person she interviewed wanted to know if they had performed well during the interview. Everybody wants to feel important and appreciated. One of the best ways to recognize someone is to understand what’s important to them. To all parents, if you’ve not felt appreciated lately, I salute you with a special recognition to single parents. Our kids have been supportive while Jen is away but have reminded me that I am not mum.
